Musical Theatre East is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, positive, and Christ-centered environment for all participants, families, staff members, volunteers, and audience members. All participants are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects kindness, respect, integrity, and cooperation toward others at all times.
The use of profanity, discriminatory language, vulgar or inappropriate conduct, harassment, intimidation, threats, bullying, physical aggression, or any conduct that causes discomfort, fear, or disruption is strictly prohibited. This policy applies during rehearsals, performances, classes, camps, events, travel, communications, and online activity, including social media interactions, where such conduct materially impacts the environment, reputation, or operations of Musical Theatre East.
Participants are expected to follow all instructions provided by directors, staff, volunteers, and venue personnel and to work cooperatively in a collaborative theatrical environment.
First Behavioral Violation:
If a participant engages in conduct deemed inappropriate, unsafe, disruptive, or inconsistent with Musical Theatre East standards, Musical Theatre East reserves the right to meet with the participant and parent/guardian to address the concern, outline corrective expectations, and determine whether continued participation is appropriate.
Second Behavioral Violation:
If inappropriate behavior continues following an initial warning or meeting, Musical Theatre East reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to suspend or permanently remove the participant from any production, class, camp, rehearsal, performance, or company activity without refund, credit, or compensation of any kind.
Musical Theatre East reserves the right to immediately remove a participant without prior warning for serious misconduct, including but not limited to harassment, threats, violence, illegal activity, theft, intentional property damage, possession of prohibited substances or weapons, or conduct that jeopardizes the safety or wellbeing of others.
Participants and their families agree to respect all facilities, equipment, costumes, props, sets, materials, and personal property belonging to Musical Theatre East, partner organizations, venues, staff, volunteers, or other participants. Any damage caused by intentional acts, misuse, reckless conduct, or negligence may result in financial liability for repair or replacement costs. Musical Theatre East reserves the right to invoice the responsible party for such damages.
Participation in theatrical activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical movement, dancing, stage combat, use of theatrical lighting, sound equipment, props, costumes, sets, elevated platforms, backstage activity, and transportation-related risks associated with performances or events.
By enrolling and participating in Musical Theatre East activities, the participant and parent/guardian knowingly and voluntarily assume all risks associated with participation and agree to release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Musical Theatre East LLC, its owners, employees, volunteers, contractors, venue partners, and representatives from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, injuries, losses, or causes of action arising out of or related to participation, except where prohibited by Arizona law.
In the event of illness, injury, or medical emergency involving a participant, reasonable efforts will be made to contact the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) listed on registration materials. If a parent or guardian cannot be reached in a timely manner, the participant’s parent/guardian authorizes Musical Theatre East staff members, employees, volunteers, or representatives to obtain emergency medical treatment deemed reasonably necessary by licensed medical personnel, physicians, surgeons, emergency responders, hospitals, or clinics.
The parent/guardian acknowledges full financial responsibility for any medical care, transportation, emergency services, or related expenses incurred on behalf of the participant. Participants are expected to maintain valid health insurance coverage. Musical Theatre East does not provide medical insurance coverage for participants and shall not be responsible for medical expenses.
By participating in Musical Theatre East activities, the participant and parent/guardian grant Musical Theatre East LLC irrevocable permission to photograph, videotape, record, and use the participant’s name, likeness, image, voice, and performance in promotional, educational, advertising, archival, and marketing materials, including but not limited to websites, social media platforms, printed materials, digital content, and press releases, without compensation or further approval.
Tuition and participation fees for Musical Theatre East programs vary by production, class, camp, or event and are used to cover operational and production-related expenses, including but not limited to licensing royalties, facility rentals, costumes, sets, props, staffing, instruction, insurance, administrative costs, and production materials. All tuition, registration fees, deposits, and payments made to Musical Theatre East are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances, including but not limited to withdrawal, dismissal, scheduling conflicts, illness, injury, casting decisions, behavioral removal, or voluntary discontinuation of participation.
